EKOL the leather oiling process

EKOL leather oil’s unique capability to restore tear strength to leather is documented by the Swedish military.

Nine different leather oiling products were evaluated from nine unique aspects such as; absorbancy, gloss, water penetration, tear strength and others. All aspects together showed EKOL equal to or superior to other products.

In particular there were three aspects where EKOL performed better than the other products; tear strength, water penetration, and storage longivity.

Tear Strength

The tests were made comparred with unworked leather (Product 0) having a tear strengh of 29.2 Kp (kilopounds). Of all the tested products EKOL leather oil (9) was in fact the only product that increased tear strength of leather, while the other products created a decrease in tear strength.

Storage life for EKOL was also given a high value. The is important as military shoes/boots are often stored in a mobilzation shed that is locked for long periods. If leather boots dry out then no soldier can wear them. EKOL proved in long storage period tests its value as a long life product when applied to leather goods.
